Frequently Asked QuestionsIs North Bay Document Shredding insured and bonded?Yes. We carry general liability insurance, as well as vehicle and commercial insurance. Furthermore, in the unlikely event that our customers' information is compromised in any way while in our possession, we carry errors and omissions insurance, which protects both parties. We are currently using an "off-site" service that picks up our documents and shreds them elsewhere, how does your "on-site" service differ?On-site shredding eliminates "transport risk" and offers a higher degree of security. Your documents never leave your location in their whole form. We wheel your locked container to our shredding truck. The container is raised hydraulically and automatically fed into the shredding system. Because our vehicle's automated feeding system allows for "hands-off" document destruction, we can ensure complete confidentiality. You can also witness the destruction of your documents through our truck's observation windows and are able to verify that it is not just a "collection" truck. By having it done on-site, you also eliminate the risk that the work is being subcontracted to a third party for destruction. Do you require a service contract? We do not require a service contract. However, if required by the customer, we can provide a contract for your compliance documentation. What does the paper look like after it has been shredded? Our truck's shredder uses a "hammermill system" which results in pieces that range anywhere in size from a quarter, to a dime, to dust. The particles are irregular in shape and size. They can't be reconstructed. How is route frequency determined?Consider your optimal frequency to be at a point where employees can still use the can and not have it overfilling, even during peak working conditions. Security should be the main concern. If a container is always full, employees may try to circumvent your company's destruction process. We can help you determine optimal frequency based upon such factors as type of business and number of employees. How do I prepare for a purge? It is important to have an accurate volume estimate (not just a guess) and your exact location in order to schedule a shred date. This information helps determine which day is available for your job and at what point the truck will reach it's capacity for that particular day. You will also be able to receive an accurate price estimate for your job. There is no need to remove paper clips, staples, fasteners, binder clips, envelopes, manilla and/or pressboard folders. What if I book a purge job and the estimated volume of material grows? If possible, please call and let us know in advance if there is going to be more shredding than originally planned. While we will make every effort to complete the job, there will be times when we cannot, due to our commitments to other customers. What is a Certificate of Destruction?A Certificate of Destruction is a document issued by the shredding company that verifies that all materials collected have been destroyed. It is included in North Bay Document Shredding's work order and is signed by the driver and the customer at the time of service. We present you with a copy of this document upon completion of service, before leaving your premises. |
